Reflective tape

Definition

To ensure visibility in the dark, all kinds of lights are used to improve road safety for vehicles. To make a vehicle stand out even more in the dark, reflectors have been developed. Reflectors do not emit light themselves, but reflect the light they receive. This makes them look just like ordinary LED lighting. In addition to the well-known triangular reflector, reflective tape has also been developed. As the name suggests, reflective tape is tape that reflects light when it catches it. Reflective tape is often used in the truck and trailer sector. In fact, the use of this tape is compulsory on all trucks weighing over 7.5 tonnes (category N2 and N3 vehicles). The use of this tape is also compulsory on every trailer weighing more than 3.5 tonnes (category O3 and O4 trailers). The reason for this is that trucks and trailers are difficult to see in the dark and in bad weather. The use of reflective tape makes them more visible and helps prevent accidents. This therefore improves road safety.
