LED licence plate lights
Ensuring your number plate is clearly visible starts with TRALERT®. TRALERT® offers a wide range of LED licence plate lights for trucks, trailer, 4x4s, caravans or other vehicles. Licence plate lights are a light function you’d rather not have to worry about in practice, but they are a legal requirement. If the licence plate light fails, it must be replaced. If this is not done, you can expect to be fined. Good LED licence plate lights are therefore not a luxury, but a sustainable investment in reliability and visibility.
Licence plate light laws and regulations
Licence plate light is compulsory on all vehicles with a number plate. If this lighting is not working, it may result in a fine. The reason for this is simple: the number plate must always be clearly legible. Without licence plate light, situations may arise where this is not the case, for example in heavy rain, snowfall or in the dark. If your LED licence plate light is faulty, it must therefore be replaced to ensure you continue to comply with legal requirements. This applies to a wide range of vehicles, from trucks to trailers.
If you’d like to find out more about what other lighting is also mandatory, please read our blog on the regulations governing lighting on trailers.

Colour of light emitted
To meet the RDW’s requirements, we have adjusted the light colour accordingly. The light colour of our LED licence plate lights is not amber, but white and sufficiently neutral to comply with the regulations. In addition to the colour, the angle of incidence is also important. If this is not correct, the number plate will still be insufficiently visible.
Waterproof and shock-resistant LED licence plate light
It is important that LED licence plate lights can take a beating. For example, it must be resistant to shock and vibration, but also be completely waterproof to protect the electronics. All TRALERT® licence plate lights meet these requirements so that you can drive safely and responsibly. You can see this in the IP values, among other things.
These indicate the degree to which a light is protected against dust and water.

Which licence plate light is suitable for my vehicle?

LED licence plate light interferes, what should I do?
