Round, square or rectangular LED rear lights: which shape suits your truck, semi-trailer or trailer ?

The short answer
LED rear lights come in round and square shapes. Choose the right rear light based on personal preference, mounting space and intended use. Many companies opt for round LED ‘hamburger’ lights because they are easy to replace and have a classic look. Others choose square LED rear lights with a dynamic indicator light for a modern look. Ensure that every rear light includes a brake light, indicator, tail light, fog light and, for trailers, an integrated triangular reflector.
Round LED rear lights
Round LED rear lights are very popular at TRALERT®. We have more than 20 different types and functions in our range. These lights are fitted to all kinds of vehicles, from trailers to trucks. The 140ESTIMD , for example, is widely used by bodybuilders. This light offers excellent value for money and has a modern look. Many new round LED rear lights feature a full-width dynamic indicator light. This creates a very attractive effect, particularly when combined with our D.I.M. module. As a result, the lights flash in synchronisation, producing a striking and clear beam pattern. We also offer the flat 140HB series: flat, round rear lights that are very easy to fit, perfect for trailers with limited space or for a sleek mounting on your trailer.
Square LED rear lights
As well as round rear lights, you’ll of course also find square LED rear lights in our range. Square LED rear lights are often fitted to trucks, but also to trailers, agricultural vehicles and specialised vehicles. Often as a single function, but frequently also with several identical functions side by side. This creates a beautiful traditional effect, which you’ll see at many truck shows. Our square LED rear lights are available in 12V and 24V versions, suitable for both trailers and trucks. Do you need a special configuration? Rear lights for trailers
For a trailer, it doesn’t really matter whether you choose a square, rectangular or round LED rear light. The most important thing is that there are two red triangular reflectors at the rear of the trailer, as required by European vehicle regulations. Many of our rear lights already have this triangular reflector flush mounted. On the TRALERT® dealer portal, you’ll find combination rear lights for trailers that incorporate the reflector – so you don’t need to add separate triangular reflectors. Rear lights for trucks

Square models often give a classic truck look, round ‘hamburger’ lights an iconic appearance, and rectangular variants with neon and dynamic indicator lights a modern look. Rear lights for semi-trailer construction
LED rear lights for 24-volt trailers and specialised transport must be able to withstand intensive use and heavy loads. Transport companies therefore opt for robust LED rear lights with a strong housing and high light output. Round ‘hamburger’ lamps offer easy replacement and proven reliability. Modern square or rectangular LED rear lights with neon and dynamic indicator lights improve visibility and appearance. Ensure that the lighting includes brake lights, rear lights, indicators, fog lights and reversing lights, and complies with the applicable ECE homologations. New trends
One of the biggest trends in LED rear lights for trucks, semi-trailers and trailers is the focus on plug-&-play systems. For truck trailers and semi-trailers (heavy O3/O4 categories), plug wiring is a major trend: simpler mounting, fewer interferences and easier maintenance.
