''How can we implement a sustainable, weather-resistant warning system that alerts train operators in a timely manner about hazardous crossings while keeping energy costs low? How do we ensure that our light signal is clearly visible to operators without causing glare?''
Objective
Create a sustainable, weather-resistant, low-energy system that alerts trains in a timely manner to approaching hazardous crossings. It is essential that the light signal is clearly visible to operators but not blinding to ensure safety.
Result
In close collaboration with Voestalpine and ProRail, TRALERT® has developed caution lights equipped with a dimming function and a unique light pattern. These caution lights are built into an intelligent warning sign, powered by a sealed battery, ensuring reliable operation under all conditions.
The next step in this joint project is to explore the integration of solar panels. This would make it possible to operate the system completely autonomously, further contributing to both the efficiency and sustainability of our warning system. At TRALERT®, Voestalpine, and ProRail, the focus is on continuous improvement and increasing safety on the railways.
