Wat is een Jaeger stekkerdoos?
The Jaeger plug is a 13-pin plug which is not interchangeable with other plugs. The Jaeger socket is of German origin. The Jaeger plug is becoming the new 'standard' plug for vehicles (DIN standard). Connecting the plug is very simple. Turn the housing of the plug a quarter turn and the plug is firmly in place. New vehicles are almost all equipped with a 13-pole Jaeger plug. The Jaeger plug is the most common plug. The 13-pole Jaeger plug is used, for example, to connect a trailer or caravan to a vehicle. The lighting on the trailer or caravan is activated by means of the 13-pole plug.
The Jaeger connector also offers the possibility to connect additional lighting functions. The Jaeger connector is equipped with a bayonet connection. A bayonet connection ensures that the plug is more securely attached. When you want to connect a thirteen-pin Jaeger connector to a 7-pin connector, you will need to use an adapter adapter. Make sure to remove the adapter when not in use to prevent moisture from getting in.
The difference with the 7-pole socket
Naturally, there are differences between the two socket types. A 7-pin socket is intended for the basic lighting of the trailer. A 13-pin socket ensures that the trailer is equipped with more light. By basic lighting, we mean for example direction indicators and brake lights. There is also the possibility to connect LED lighting as a reverse light.

Connecting a Jaeger socket should take care of the following:
- Connect the wiring in accordance with the picture below and connect the constant current.
- The constant current connections and the corresponding earth must be connected with 2.5 mm² wire.
- Do not make any changes to the electrical system in your vehicle.
- In the case of vehicles with computer-controlled power take-off, this must then be adjusted for the use of, for example, a contemporary caravan.
